Rape victim records statement

KARACHI,January 11,2005:Housemaid, Asia,16, who was torched after alleged rape in a bungalow in Bahadurabad area late Saturday night recorded her statement before Justice of Peace, Anis Manzoor on oath.

Team of Aurat Foundation and senior doctor of Civil Hospital,Dr. Kaleem Butt were also present.
Asia said that she had not altered her statement. Owner of the house and suspect Yasin Mohammed Ali had given statement while she printed thump impression on it in an unconscious condition.

Asia said that the suspect Yaseen, son of the house owner had subjected her to sexual abuse since several months under duress.The other day, she added the suspect tried to abuse her. She slapped him and warned that she would inform his family. It infuriated Yaseen who threatened Asia of dire consequences.

“Later, three masked men came in the house and set me on fire after locking me inside bath-room,” Asia said. Watchman, Amanat brought her at Burns Ward of Civil Hospital.

Jehangir, brother of the victim told the team that they were informed about the event very late.He said that he had no knowledge about the FIR regarding the event. Jehangir said that they were poor and had left Asia in the house of Yaseen after taking advance money of one year.
Meanwhile, Aurat Foundation in a statement had demanded inquiry into negligence of police officers and doctors.

Referring law principle, Aurat Foundation said that it is settled principle of law that the person who is sure of his/her death speaks truth. Asia had sustained 98 percent burn wounds and her condition was critical.It is responsibility of the government to provide justice to the girl.
