Rape culprits to be brought to justice: Naek

ISLAMABAD (September 24 2008): The government will show zero tolerance on the incidents of rape and will leave no stone unturned in bringing the culprits to justice, said Federal Minister for Law and Justice Farooq H. Naek, here on Tuesday. The minister discussed the progress in investigation with the SSP Mandi Bahauddin regarding the rape incidence of a school teacher.

According to the details, the incident took place on September 1. The accused Azhar brought the victim from Mandi Bahauddin to Islamabad, deceiving her that he would arrange a diploma for her from Quaid-e-Azam University and would marry her on return.

They spent couple of days in a local hotel and when the fraud was sensed by the victim, she tried to leave the accused. In this tug of war, the accused raped the victim and threw acid on her face that damaged the face of the victim seriously.

He vowed to provide legal, medical assistance to the victim on behalf of the government. The SSP said that two of the accused, Sajid and Mazhar, were arrested while intensive search for the third and main accused was underway. The victim is admitted for free treatment in the Burn Centre of Pakistan Institute of Medical Complex (PIMS), Islamabad. Secretary Human Rights Division, Ministry of Law, Faridullah Khan and Joint Secretary HR Division Khusdil Khan Malik were also present on the occasion.
