Radio employees plea on transfer IHC issues notices to PBC, others

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Monday issued notices to Federation, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) and Controller news /current affairs PBC in response to a petition filed by the employees of Radio Pakistan.

A single- member bench of Chief Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi heard the petition filed by as many as ten news producers of the PBC pleading for the cancellation of their transfer from news section to the entertainment section of FM 93.

During the course of proceedings, Muhammad Ashraf, the counsel for the petitioner pleaded that his clients had been working in news and current affairs section of the Radio Pakistan since last decade; however, they have been recently transferred to FM 93, which is purely an entertainment station of the PBC.

He pleaded his clients had done MSc in Mass Communication, adding that transfers were made without getting prior approval from the Board of Directors of the PBC and Establishment Division.

They pleaded the court to annul their transfer orders.

The court while issuing notices adjourned proceedings sine die.
