Radio awards ceremony

KARACHI- A colourful award ceremony of Radio Pakistan for craftsmen, artists, writers, engineers, producers and persons belonging to various sections of the organisation from Sindh is on schedule this month.

Sindh Governor Air Marshal (Rtd) Azim Daudpota will be the chief guest.

Earlier, at the national level the ceremony has already been held in Islamabad and Lahore and Peshawar at regional levels.

This is the first ceremony of its kind in the history of Radio Pakistan that awards are being presented on regional level as well. Earlier only once such ceremony was held at national level.

For the Sunday’s ceremony prominent educational, literary, cultural and personalities belonging to sports and arts are being invited to the award presentation ceremony for writers, artists, producers, engineers etc from Karachi, Hyderabad, Khairpur and Larkana on the occasion national level awards would be presented to Qari Waheed Zafar (Qirat), Jamshed Marker (English commentary), Jehan Ara saeed (English news), Fatima Khanum (Urdu drama), Muniba Shaikh and Umme Habiba (Naat Khawan), Muhammed Tasleem (producer-sports), Noorul Huq Rashdi (engineering), Khalid Farooq (accounts), Mashhood Ahsan (sales) and Rabia Ikram (programme- Urdu).

The recipients of regional awards would include Mahnaz and Wahab Khan (singing), Khurshid Alam (Urdu drama producer), Nasim Nashofoz (Urdu drama writer), Hafiz Fatima (Urdu drama artist), Syed Makhan Shah Rizvi (Sindhi drama writer), Anwar Solangi and Seema Panhwar (Sindhi drama artist Yakub Zakaria and Shamim Bhamban (Sindhi supporting drama artist), Syed Saleh Muhammed Shah (Stock Character Sindhi), Dr Mahmood Mughal (compare Sindhi), Imam Din Jamali (announcer Sindhi), Shabina Iftikhar (compare Urdu), Jehangir Qureshi (Sindhi drama producer), Shaukat Khaskheli (producer music), Muhammed Anwar Hakro (producer youth programme-Sindhi), Naim Mirza (programme Sindhi), Mukhtiar Malik (Producer Agriculture Programme Sindhi), Sohrab Fakir (regional singer), Gul Hasan Qureshi (producer Hyderabad) and Anwar Hussain Lodhi (Engineer literary).

A superstar award will be presented to famous Awami singer Zarina Baluch in recognition of her services whereas a special award will be given to Iffat Naqi for her best public service programme “Ye Bacha Kis Ka hai”.

Special awards will also be given to retired controllers Ilyas Ishqi, Najmul Hasnain, Yawar Mehdi and Sikandar Azam Baluch, the present station director of Radio Pakistan, Hyderabad.

The award ceremony will be broadcast live from Radio Pakistan’s provincial hookup.
