QUETTA: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Nisar A Memon on Thursday urged editors and journalists to play their role in mobilising the public opinion against terrorism and supplement the government’s efforts to root out the menace from the country.
Talking to editors of local Urdu and English newspapers and journalists at a brief meeting with them here, Memon said media was an effective agent for change and opinion formation.
He said the government had devised a plan to establish 10 FM radio stations in different parts of Balochistan. He asked the editors to form a committee and invited them to visit Islamabad for detailed discussion.
Memon gave away a cheque of Rs 0.5 million to president Quetta Press Club Shehzada Zulfiqar. He expressed his regret to the journalists for not visiting personally the press club due to lack of time. He invited a delegation of Quetta journalists to visit Islamabad.
