QUETTA: A traumatised teenaged girl, who was gang-raped in the office of a local non-governmental organisation (NGO) in the Gandhawa tehsil of Jhal Magsi district three days ago, is undergoing treatment for head injuries and trauma at the Bolan Medical Complex Hospital here.

Senior officials of the hospital told ‘The News’ the patient was in a state of shock but was improving gradually. The doctors said the CT scan of the patient had been conducted, which revealed there were some bruises on the brain. The doctor on duty at the emergency said the relatives of the patient had brought her in an unconscious state with constant bleeding from the nose. After formal examination, they referred her to a female neurosurgery ward for further treatment, Dr Gul Rehman said.

When contacted, Medical Superintendent Dr Elahi Bakhsh said the detailed medical examination of the patient would be carried out after the patient came out of the state of shock.

Meanwhile, the mother and the brother of the ill-fated girl told journalists she was working with an NGO with its office operating in Gandhawa. She went to her office in the morning (on Thursday) and was asked to stay back by some of her colleagues after the routine office timing to do some “extra work”.

Her colleagues then abused her sexually and later hit her with some hard tool on the head and on her back. When she fell unconscious, they threw her at an abandoned place at some distance from the office. The relatives said after registering a report with the area police, they took her to Quetta.

This scribe attempted to contact the DIG Sibi and the district police officer of Jhal Magsi to know about the facts but the officials were not available.

However, it was learnt that two culprits allegedly involved in the incident were reported to have been taken into police custody after the caretaker Balochistan chief minister took a serious notice of the incident, directing the concerned quarters to take stern action against the culprits and submit to him a report in this regard.
