Punjab Government Unveils New Initiatives to Support Journalists in Murree

Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari, on July 8, announced a series of targeted initiatives aimed specifically at supporting the journalistic community in Murree.
Key among the new initiatives is the construction of housing for journalists. The government plans to build flats and establish a dedicated housing society for registered journalists in Murree. To facilitate this, Bokhari, while speaking at the Murree Press Club, urged local journalists to submit a list of registered members to Lahore, ensuring that all eligible individuals receive the benefits of this program.
In addition to housing, the government will establish a new press club in Murree. Bokhari expressed her anticipation to inaugurate the facility on her next visit, emphasizing the importance of a modern and well-equipped press club to serve as the hub for journalistic activity in the area. “A dynamic press club is central to a thriving journalistic community, and we are committed to providing such a space in Murree,” she stated.
Bokhari promised to personally advocate for implementing the Wage Board Award, ensuring that journalists in Murree receive fair salaries. The government will also provide an annual grant to the Murree Press Club, similar to those given to other districts.
