ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) on Tuesday ordered constituting an inquiry committee to probe the matter of an incorrect map shown during the program Nukta-e-Imtiaz last week.

An office order from the PTV’s controller administration and personnel said an incorrect map of Pakistan was televised, which was an act of negligence by relevant officials and caused irreparable loss to the corporation.

“The competent authority has, therefore, ordered to constitute an inquiry committee comprising Chief Technology Officer and Director Sports to probe into the matter.”

The office order names the following staff against whom the inquiry will be conducted: chief news and current affairs Quatrina Hossain, director programming Kanwal Masud, controller in-charge current affairs Abdul Rasheed, producer programs Mukesh Kumar, producer current affairs Taimur Younas, programming assistant Muhammad Sadeer, and Nida Sajjad of news and current affairs.

The committee would fix responsibility and apportion blame if any, suggest measures for non-occurrence of any such incident in the future, and ensure whether or not the above officials are guilty of the charge leveled against them.

PTV had shown Pakistan’s map without the territories of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan in the program.
