ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Television (PTV) management has referred three cases of alleged embezzlement and irregularities against its former managing director (MD) Mustafa Kamal Qazi to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Qazi, who was reportedly a junior officer, became acting-MD allegedly after falsely claiming to be a senior officer in the Islamabad High Court, caused billions of rupees losses to the institution allegedly through corruption and embezzlement and by promoting his favourite officials illegally, said a PTV press release on Saturday.

According to the release, disciplinary action may be initiated against Qazi for misstating facts in the court for becoming the acting-MD.

An investigation department has already started probe into allegations against Qazi. It may be noted that PTV MD Mohammad Malick has taken strict measures to root out corruption from the organisation.

In this regard, audit of all of PTV departments for the last years is already underway and those found involved in corruption will be taken to task.
