PTI Supporters Spread Fake Video of Sana Bucha’s Reaction to PTI’s By-Election Victory

A fake video of journalist Sana Bucha is being shared by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters on social media, where a filter has been placed on her to make it look like she is ‘crying’ over the PTI’s victory in the Punjab by-elections.

Sana Bucha made an appearance on anchor Mansoor Ali Khan’s program on Samaa TV on Monday, and the two analyzed the by-election results and what they meant. A clip from the TV show was taken and manipulated by putting a filter on it that made it look like Sana was crying, even though in reality she was not.

The video has since then been shared numerous times by PTI supporters, who are alleging that Sana Bucha was ‘crying’ because she was upset about PTI defeating Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the by-elections.

Sana made an appearance on another talk show later in the day, where PTI leader Aliya Hamza mockingly congratulated her on her video going viral. To this, Sana rebutted that the video was fake and there was a filter placed on it.

The host of the news show from where the clip was taken, Mansoor Ali Khan also issued a clarification about the incident, saying he had been receiving messages about the video clip which he had seen being shared repeatedly on social media.

Mansoor said that this was an example of propaganda building, something which he said PTI excels at. “This is called propaganda building and it is something that comes out of someone’s evil mind,” he said.

“And of course, PTI youth is getting amused by this and keeps on sharing it: it’s just a filter, please fix your mind’s filter and be sensible,” he urged.
