PTA to launch drive for reopening closed schools

KHAIRPUR: The Primary Teachers’ Association (PTA) of Sindh has decided to launch a campaign for reopening closed schools in the province and ensure regular attendance of teachers.

President of the association Rafique Jarwar told this reporter on Tuesday that the decision was taken at a recent PTA meeting.

He said awareness seminars would be organised at the village level and added that they would try to reopen the closed schools which were being used as Autaqs.

He said that the PTA had also decided to cancel the membership of ghost teachers if they did not attend their duties.

He said that there was no exact figure of closed schools in Sindh but it was confirmed that a large number of schools which were officially shown as opened were actually lying closed.

He said that the struggle for acceptance of their demands was successful, but there were some confusion about the teaching allowance because some teachers were getting less benefit from it while others were having no benefit.
