PTA seizes two illegal gateway exchanges
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has seized two networks of illegal gateway exchanges in Lahore, which were causing a huge loss to the national exchequer.
According to a statement issued by the PTA on Wednesday, the telecom regulator and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) launched a crackdown on illegal gateway operators in Eden Towers Gulberg and New Garden Town.
Two persons were arrested and illegal systems were confiscated from both the places. These raids were conducted based on information through the PTA facility which detects illegal telecom traffic.
PTA Chairman Dr Mohammed Yaseen, while appreciating the efforts of PTA and FIA teams, directed PTA zonal offices to further expedite joint raids against such illegal activities so that loss to the national kitty can be prevented.
