ISLAMABAD (October 14 2006): Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has conducted a country wide quality of service (QoS) survey to check the quality of Wireless Local Loop (WLL) operators’ service and the implementation of limited mobility, says a press release. The QoS survey was conducted in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta etc to gauge the quality of WLL service. The limited mobility aspect of WLL service was also surveyed as per PTA’s determination on limited mobility. The survey commenced from September 15-26, 2006 by all PTA zonal offices, simultaneously. The operators surveyed include PTCL-V, Telecard, Great Bear, Buraq Telecom and World Call.
PTA is analysing and compiling the results and necessary action will be initiated against those operators not meeting QoS standards as prescribed by PTA and for not complying with PTA determination on limited mobility. It may be added that PTA had directed all WLL operators to implement limited mobility by August 31, 2006.
