Protest in Sindh over rape incidents

The NGO staged a demonstration outside the press club in Sanghar. Activists Aslam Memon, Tahir Ahmed and Ms Tahira demanded exemplary punishment to the people who raped Ms Naseeban Labano and forced her to parade naked. They said that the government was paying only lip service to the rights of women.

DADU: A large number of people took to streets and participated in a rally on a call given by Aurat Foundation to protest against a girl’s rape in Ubauro.

The rally led by Moula Bux, district coordinator of women’s rights committee, started from the taluka municipal park and ended at the press club.

NAWABSHAH: Activists of Aurat Foundation staged a protest demonstration outside the local press club demanding arrest of the rapists.

The protesters led by Mushtaq Pirzado, Javed Mallah, Ms Zehra Baloch, Rasheeda Baloch and Khawar Sultana raised slogans against police and demanded that the peopled involved in inhuman act should be arrested.

BADIN: Activists of Citizens Action Committee and a number of NGOs staged a demonstration on the Shah Latif Road demanding arrest of the people involved in rape incidents in Ubauro and Mehar.

Representatives of Aurat Foundation Hameeda Khaskheli, social workers Nargis Bhurgri, Zeenat Ghanchi, Jean Ansari, Mohammad Khan Samoon and Khadim Talpur blasted police for not taking any action the culprits and said that the rape cases were on rise in the province.

LARKANA: Activists of political and social organisations called for the arrest of people involved in the rape incidents when they visited the hunger strikers camp set up by Ms Kainat Soomro, a 13-year-old rape victim, outside the local press club on Wednesday.

They criticised the Dadu police for their failure to arrest the people involved in kidnapping and raping Ms Kainat Soomro who along with her parents and sisters had been on token huger strike since Feb 2 against the police.

Activists of JSQM, SNF and MQM visited the camp. Ms Kainat appealed to Muhammedmian Soomro for help.
