Protest against sale of islands

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Jan 20: A large number of activists of the Sindh People’s Youth (Shaheed Bhutto) took out a procession in Moro on Saturday to protest against sale of two Karachi islands, price hike, unemployment and lawlessness.

The procession, led by SPY-SB president Ghulam Rasool Umrani and senior vice-president Comrade Saleem Rajput, after marching on different roads, reached outside the press club where protesters blocked the road by staging a sit-in for about one hour.
Speaking on the occasion, the SPY leaders termed the sale of the islands to a foreign company an injustice to the province and demanded cancellation of the decision.
They said that unemployment, price hike and lawlessness were on the rise with each passing day. They said that due to government policies, the lives of the people had become miserable and unemployed youths were compelled to commit suicide.
They said that on the one hand, bad economic conditions and unemployment had created serious problems for poor people and, on the other, rise in the prices of kitchen items were making it difficult for the poor people to make both ends meet.
They demanded employment for jobless educated youths, reduction in prices of essential commodities and improvement in law and order situation.
