Protest against journalist’s kidnapping

The joint action committee of the Khyber Union of Journalists and the Peshawar Press Club organized the procession in the city.Journalists expressed anger over delay in the recovery.The protestors carried placards and banners inscribed with slogans demanding immediate recovery of the kidnapped senior journalist.Later, a meeting of the action committee was held at the press club. Action committee members Shamim Shahid, Syed Ansar Abass, Jamsheed Baghwan and Zia-ul-Haq expressed deep concern over the situation.The meeting criticised the administration for its inability to ensure recovery of kidnapped journalists even after the passage of three weeks

.CHITRAL: Journalists took out a procession in protest against the kidnapping of journalist Sohail Qalandar here on Friday.The procession converted into a rally at the lawn of the press club.Chitral Press Club president Zahiruddin, Environmental Journalists Forum president Mohkamuddin, political figures Moulana Ghulam Mohammad, Moulana Balinnas, Haji Nadir Khan, Israruddin Al-hilal and Saeed Ahmed Khan also spoke on the occasion.They criticised the government for its utter failure to recover the journalist.They said that the journalists could not be deterred from performing their duties freely.

They called upon the government to utilise all its resources to recover the journalist.BUNER: Local journalists expressed concern over the kidnapping of senior journalist Suhail Qalandar.A meeting at the press club strongly condemned the kidnapping and demanded that provincial and federal governments should make efforts to ensure safe release of their colleague.Muhibul Haq presided over the meeting.The meeting noted that the journalists of the country were serving the nation with the help of their pen within limited resources and the government was responsible for their security.
