Private TV channel barred from airing Indian dramas
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday restrained a private TV channel from airing Indian dramas and ordered Pakistan Electronic and Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to disconnect its complete transmission if it disobeyed the court order.
Justice Aysha A Malik issued the interim order on a petition moved by another Pakistani private TV channel. The petitioner TV channel submitted that a Dubai-based channel was airing its transmission in Pakistan. It said that the respondent TV channel was also airing Indian dramas during its transmission which was against Pemra rules and regulations.
The Director General operations and licensing appeared before the court and submitted that the TV channel was not airing its transmission in violation of rules. The court heard arguments of both parties and issued a stay order against Indian dramas on respondent TV.
