Private sector urged to play role in promoting Information Technology (IT)

KARACHI- The Sindh Minister for Finance, and Chairman of the Sindh IT Board, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, has said that the Sindh government was talking various measures to promote information technology in the province.

Speaking as chief guest at the diploma and higher diploma awards ceremony of APIIT-Pak at a local hotel, he said that there was urgent need that the private sector came forward and plays its due role in the spread of IT in the province.

He said that those countries, which got independence after us, are far ahead in all the fields be it the economics or IT. He said that the reason being that these countries adopted the policies fo improving standard of education and devised export oriented policies, besides promoting the private sector. In Pakistan we did almost against it. We did not pay attention towards improving education standards and promoting our exports, and encouraging private sector. He appreciated the efforts made by some private IT institutes in providing quality education to their students.
