Press Club to hold elections on 26th of October

RAWALPINDI- The Rawalpindi/Islamabad Press Club elections would be held on Oct. 26, informed the Secretary of the Club Mushtaq Minhas.

The decision to this effect was taken in the governing body meeting of the Club held here under the chair of the president Haji Nawaz Raza.

A five-member elections committee with llyas Shahid as its President, and members Javed Shahzad, Nasir Chishti, Tahir Rathore and Abrar Saeed, was Constituted to supervise the election process.

According to the schedule given by the elections committee the Provisional list of the members of the Club would be displayed at the notice board of the Club on the 1Oth at 5:00 pm. Objections at the list would be received by the 12th and in case of objections on the list the governing body meeting would be held on the 13th, otherwise the final list of the members would be displayed on the 13th by 7 pm.

The head of scrutiny committee Rana Ghulam Qadir giving the report in the meeting said that they had cancelled the membership of some 165 members, while the objections against some 53 members had been withdrawn.

The treasurer of the Club Ms Fozia Shahid appreciating the working of the scrutiny committee and suggested that the committee should work round the year to keep the list of members update.

The governing body also gave approval to a number of applications for fresh memberships.
