PR man commits wife suicide after killing

MULTAN, Dec 16: A Pakistan Railway (PR) employee committed suicide after slaughtering his wife here on Tuesday morning.

Muhammad Asghar, an electrician with the PR, killed his wife Farzana Bibi and later killed himself.

Muhammad Aslam, the father of the deceased, alleged official inquiries and officials had stressed out his son to take such an extreme measure. He told reporters that his son had pointed out oil thefts by the officials which turned these officials against him.

He said the officials had victimised Asghar and ultimately he was terminated from job. He said Asghar moved court against his termination and finally the high court reinstated him.

He said power supply to the official residence of Asghar had been suspended for the last six months. Despite his ceaseless efforts, Asghar failed to get the supply restored.

He alleged a divisional assistant electrical engineer had again implicated his son in another case of oil theft.

Railway Divisional Superintendent Khalid Amin expressed sympathy with the grieved family. He said the department had lodged an FIR against Asghar when 390 litre high speed petrol was stolen from Musa Pak Express in January and he was deployed on the train.

He said Asghar had confessed to his crime and paid the amount of stolen oil.

He said inquiries were under process against Asghar and he had never submitted any complaint to the department against any official. He said electricity was disconnected owing to non-payment of outstanding electricity dues.
