Pakistan Press Foundation

ISLAMABAD – PPP on Monday finally broke the silence against Zulfiqar Mirza’s back-to-back verbal attacks on Asif Ali Zardari, asking PEMRA to stop live telecast of allegedly one-sided defamatory programmes being aired in violation of the regulatory body’s rules and regulations.

“The one-sided and malicious outbursts employing cheap and vulgar language made continually and without substantiation on TV channels against former President is a serious violation of the PEMRA rules and must be checked,” said PPP General Secretary Sindh Senator Taj Haider in a letter to PEMRA.

The letter was delivered by Senator Taj Haider and Senator Karim Khawaja to Chairman PEMRA on Monday.

Taj said that the television channels also had a duty to ensure that their platform was not used for airing programmes that were defamatory and based on false and unsubstantiated allegations against anyone.
The PPP leader called upon PEMRA to intervene and take necessary action within seven days failing which he shall have to take necessary legal action.
