Karachi: Almost a week has passed since Muhammad Shafaat, 25, son of a journalist went missing. An FIR has been registered at Sachal Police Station but there is still no clue about his whereabouts.

Shafaat, who is the son of PPI News Agency Karachi Editor Shafqat Ali Soomro, left his house in Sachal Goth, Suparco Road on Friday, May 10. He was going to a textile factory in SITE area, where he was an internee mechanical engineer, but he reached neither the workplace nor did he return home. An FIR has been registered and the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) has been informed but there is no clue of Shafaat’s whereabouts as yet. The motorcycle he was riding that Friday is untraceable so far and his cell phone number is also powered off.

The distressed family fears that their son may have been kidnapped, picked up, or fallen victim to enforced disappearances for reasons unknown to them.

The family has appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and relevant law enforcement agencies for his safe recovery.
