PPC to screen documentary on Niazi

PESHAWAR – To pay tribute to eminent journalist and trade unionist Zamir Niazi, who died on June 10, the Peshawar Press Club will screen a video documentary on his life on June 14 evening (today) at 8 pm.

Zaffarullah Khan, an expert on media and director of the Centre for Civic Education, Islamabad has prepared the documentary on life of Zamir Niazi. Office bearers and members of the Press Club will attend the event to pay tribute to the relentless crusader for press freedom.

Earlier, on Saturday, a general body meeting of the press club offered Fateha for the departed soul. President of the Peshawar Press Club, Mohammad Riaz and General Secretary Iqbal Khattak, listed Niazi’s services for upholding standards of journalism and freedom of press. They said Zamir Niazi was a symbol of the fight for a free media and freedom of expression. His death is an irreparable loss to those struggling for freedom of press in Pakistan, they added.
