The Anti-Terrorism Court handed down the death sentence to two policemen having found them guilty of murdering a three-year-old girl after kidnapping and raping her.

According to the prosecution, the defendants later threw her body in a graveyard in the Korangi area and due to their act a sense of fear prevailed in society.

“The prosecution case was appreciated by the court, which handed down the death punishment to the defendants,” Special Public Prosecutor Mohammad Khan Buriro said. The prosecution placed nine witnesses including two eyewitnesses to prove the guilt of the defendants.

The ATC headed by Judge Syed Hasan Shah Bukhari observed that the prosecution proved its case against the defendants, who had committed a ‘gruesome offence.’

The court also sentenced both defendants to10 years imprisonment each for rape with a fine of Rs10,000. Both defendants were directed to pay Rs100,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the girl, and, in default of payment, they shall have to suffer a further three years of imprisonment.
