Police solve murder mystery

VEHARI: DPO Shakir Hussain awarded honorary certificate and cash prize to Machiwal Police SHO for solving a blind murder case. The police disclosed that a married woman, who was wrongly reported as kidnapped eight months ago, was in fact, murdered by her in-laws for honour.

According to police, Muhammad Boota son of Umer Hayat, resident of Chak 218/EM reported to the Saddar Police that her daughter-in-law Shaista was kidnapped by Javed Iqbal Awan, Zafar Iqbal, Muhammad Ashiq Hajam, Shumaila and their accomplices but she could not be traced out after eight months.

DPO Shakir Hussain Dawerd handed over the case to Machiwal Police SHO Chaudhry Bashir Ahmad to investigate the matter. After a thorough investigation, it was unfolded that woman namely Shaista was not kidnapped rather she was killed by her brothers-in-Law Adnan, Mushtaq and their nephew Shahid Mustafa for honour.

They confessed to the police that they had strangulated her and threw her body in the canal near Mitro Policie Station. Shaista’s husband lived abroad and her brothers in law said in their statement that they murdered her for allegedly having illicit relations. The DPO awarded honorary certificate and Rs20,000 reward to SHO Bashir Ahmad for solving the case and arresting the culprits.
