Police save ‘kari’
SUKKUR: Police claimed on Thursday to have saved the life of a girl who had been declared a kari by her father and brothers in the village of Sheroja near Salehpat.
Acting on information that Sat Bhirai, daughter of Ellahi Bux Chachar, has been declared a kari by her father and brothers, a police party raided the village and recovered the girl.
She was produced in the court of third additional sessions judge Khalid Tipu Rana.
In her statement in the court, Sat Bhirai said her father and brothers who had declared her a kari and might kill her. Therefore, she said she wanted to go with her uncle Mohammad Mithal Chachar who was present in the court.
The judge ordered Mohammad Chachar to furnish his national identity card and other documents in the court to take custody of the girl and sent her to Darul Amman.
