Poets, writers to raise funds for flood affectees

LAHORE: Leading poets, writers and other literary personalities along with some famous film stars and TV and stage celebrities have decided to launch a door-to-door fund-raising campaign in the city to help the flood victims.

The decision was made at a special meeting of leading literary personalities belonging to Halqa Arbab-e-Zook, a representative organisation of poets and writers, held at Adbi Baithak under the chair of Hussain Majrooh.

They set up two teams to gather funds from people living in posh areas of Lahore, including Model Town, DHA, Gulberg, Shadman and Shah Jamal.

The meeting also decided that a team of poets and writers would visit Shadman, Shah Jamal and Model Town and approach residents at their door steps to gather fund for the flood affectees. The poets and writers’ caravan will start from the Alhamra Arts Council at 11:30am today (Saturday).
