PM visits Shamim Ara, gives Rs0.5 million
LAHORE: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday inquired after Shamim Ara, a renowned film artiste and producer, at the National Hospital here on Sunday.
The prime minister declared Shamim Ara an asset to the nation, appreciated her contribution to art and presented her a cheque of Rs0.5 million. He directed doctors to take special care of the artiste.
On the occasion, husband of Shamim Ara told the prime minister that she had no place to live in after leaving the hospital as her residence had been illegally occupied and occupants were demanding Rs50 million to vacate it.
The prime minister assured her husband that he would personally take interest to ensure justice to her to the effect.
