Photojournalist passes away

ISLAMABAD- Syed Salahuddin Aslam, a senior photojournalist, died in Islamabad on Thursday after brief illness. He was 71.

As a student, Mr Aslam actively participated in the Pakistan Movement and was elected Joint Secretary of Allahabad District Muslim League in 1946.

After migrating to Pakistan in 1948 he joined daily Pakistan Times as a photojournalist. He founded Association of Pakistan Press Photographers in 1956 and was twice elected Secretary of Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ).

Mr Aslam moved from Karachi to Islamabad in 1987 and retired as Director of Information of International Islamic University in 1990.

He will be buried in Islamabad graveyard. His funeral procession will start at 2.00pm from House No.10, St 43-A, G.8/2, Islamabad.
