PFUJ slams journalists’ detention

KARACHI: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has condemned the manhandling of journalists and lawyers and detention of five local newsmen in Bajaur agency, according to a PFUJ press release. According to the information received by the PFUJ, five local newsmen, Masood Khan,Anwar Hakim, Haseen Ahnied, Zafarullah and Moammad Ibrahim, have been detained, who had been reporting on the Bajaur operation.

Some journalists, including a correspondent of a private TV channel, Nowsherwan Qalandar, were also beaten up by personel of levy forces. While terming the Bajaur operation as “controversial”, The PFUJ asserted that journalists and people. had the right to know what had actually happened in Baiaur.
