PFUJ seeks access to drone-hit areas

Pakistan Press Foundation

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has demanded to journalists’ and international human rights organisations’ access to the drone-hit areas. Thus, the government, security agencies and militants must respect freedom of the press, and allow media, national and international human rights organisations to visit areas hit by drone attacks since 9/11, to meet the aggrieved families.

PFUJ adopted a number of resolutions to solve various issues. These resolutions were adopted in its three-day meeting held in Karachi. Through these resolutions, released from its Central Secretariat, Islamabad, PFUJ vows to make Pakistan the most “safest place” for journalists.

Drone attacks and suicide bombings were lethal weapons against humanity and must be stopped, it said. PFUJ, while expressing its deepest concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan, resolved that the kind of threats posed to journalists made profession of journalism a suicidal job in the province.
