PFUJ to make human chain to protect democracy
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Monday decided to make a human chain in front of Serena Hotel to protect democracy and the Constitution, said a press statement Monday.
The PFUJ President Afzal Butt appealed to the journalist community, civil society organisations and common citizen to become a wall against the dangers facing democracy and the Constitution and reach Serena Hotel along with their families on Tuesday at 5 pm where a human chain would be made.
Afzal Butt said PFUJ was a centre of bright traditions in the struggle for stability of democracy and supremacy of the Constitution. “It is the demand of these traditions that the journalist community should stand again for the protection of Constitution and democracy,” said the statement.
General Secretary PFUJ Khurshid Abbasi warned the activists and participants of political parties and dharna against manhandling journalists. He said the trend of manhandling of Geo News and Jang Group journalists was a dangerous trend.
