KARACHI: Jan.25: The PFUJ,has called for the release of freelance journalist, Khawer Mehdi Rizvi, who continues to remain in custody in an undisclosed location, thouugh his French colleagues, Marc Epstein and Jean-Paul Guilloteau, who were put on trial for breaking the Foreigners Act 1964 by traveling to Quetta without special permission, have gone back to their country after paying the fine pronounced by a court of law.

In a Press Statement PFUJ President Ahfaz ur Rahman, observed Rizvi’s disappearance reinforces the Suspicion that he is being subjected to traditional torture. He said, Khawer had been missing for more than one month and the journalist community is deeply concerned because the illegal detention of Rizvi, who was arrested along with the two French journalists in the same case, is a serious violation of basic human rights.

He observed since Khawer was arrested along with the French journalists, it means the concerned law enforcement agency has been aware of the his where abouts.
