ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Judge, Justice of Peace, Zeba Chaudhry, on Thursday dismissed petitions against airing of statement of senior anchor Hamid Mir’s brother Amir Mir about the ISI and refused to pass orders to book the Geo TV officials in this regard.

The petitions had sought action against Geo TV for airing this statement. Qammar Abbas and Mirza Abdur Rehman had filed petitions under A-22 seeking registration of a case in this regard. They stated that they had filed applications with Kohsar Police Station for lodging the case against Geo TV for levelling allegations against ISI but the police did not oblige them.

Geo TV Counsel Iqbal Khan said the petitioners were not the affected party while the ISI had already accessed the relevant forum in this connection. He said Pemra had also suspended transmission of Geo TV for 15 days and fined it Rs10 million. The court threw out the petitions.
