Pemra starts due diligence for DTH licencing
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) in pursuance of its decision has initiated the process for legal due diligence to avoid anomalies, if any, in the postponed Direct to Home (DTH) process, says a press release.
Subsequent recommendations/findings shall be presented before the authority in its next meeting for consideration for further course of action.
Pemra Chairman Absar Alam has directed legal team to conclude the matter in order to give the potential investors confidence and to dispel the wrong impressions being created in this regard. He said that the DTH licencing process would resume after all legal aspects were looked into because the decision taken in the haste could have legal complications in future.
It may be mentioned that Pemra in its 107th meeting held on December 4, 2015 decided to defer the DTH bidding to give the new chairman a reasonable time to fully understand the project, its criteria, procedure, guidelines and other important legal aspects.
