PEMRA Raids Shops In Attock, Confiscates Illegal DTH Equipment

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Islamabad Region on Friday raided different areas of Attock and confiscated illegal equipment of Direct to Home (DTH) transmission after receiving public complaints on the Pakistan Citizen Portal established by Prime Minister Imran Khan. PEMRA also received complaints on its ‘Complaints and Feedback System,’ says a press release.

PEMRA field staff formed a team headed by Zulfiqar Chaudhry of Pakistan Customs and consisting of personnel of Pakistan Customs and Custom Intelligence and carried out the campaign against the illegal equipment of DTH and Indian television channels in line with the orders of the Supreme Court.

The confiscated illegal equipment included 26 satellite receivers, two LNBs and three dish antennas. During the raids, the equipment was confiscated from different electronic shops including Siddiqui Electronics, Sajjad Electronics and Repair System, Zulfiqar Electronics and Hussain Electronics.

The Chairman PEMRA directed that the campaign against the illegal Indian DTH and other equipment should be made more effective and the complaints received at Pakistan Citizen Portal and PEMRA complaint centres should be resolved.
