Pemra launches action against illegal cable operators
KARACHI, April 08 2005: On directives of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), province-wide campaign has been launched by Pemra Sindh Region against illegal cable operators and those CTV operators relying obscene/banned channels (MM, MM2, M-Net and Series etc) in districts Sukkur, Naushehro Feroz, Nawabshah and Khairpur. According to Pemra press statement issued here on Thursday, the enforcement team had seized head ends and also confiscated equipment of illegal/default cable TV operators.
The Pemra Sindh Region has directed all illegal cable TV operators of Sindh region to get themselves registered with the Pemra and obtain license for their cable TV before April 15 to avoid any further legal action. It has directed CTV operators to abide by the Pemra rules and regulation and provide only eligible channels to their subscriber.
