PEMRA invites EOI for digital cable TV licenses
KARACHI, Sept 15 (PPI): Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory (PEMRA) has invited expression of interest for digital cable TV licenses.
PEMRA has decided to complete the digitalization of Cable TV Networks by December 2015, as per its agreements with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The interested Pakistani companies that are registered with Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) with at least Rs3 million paid up capital and are able to install digital TV cable, run and manage it in their town/ Tehsil, could submit the expression of interest/ offer to the designated offices of PEMRA in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan and Quetta by 6th November 2014.
All the PEMRA rules would apply. The interested companies could visit PEMRA website (www.pemra.gov.pk) for further assistance regarding PEMRA act, rules and distribution service regulations.
According to PEMRA Act 2002 (Amended Act 2007), PEMRA has the authority to promote private electronic media and cable TV.
The expression of interest or submission of proposals would not be considered as a right for the issuance of license. The authority has the right to accept or reject any or all proposals/ expressions of interest according to PEMRA rules.
