PEMRA directs LTN Family to Clear Outstanding Dues to Journalists Within 30 Days; Other Media Houses Asked to Present Stance in Next Meeting

On June 13, the Council of Complaints for the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) directed the LTN Family to clear outstanding dues owed to journalists within 30 days, while other media houses facing similar complaints have been asked to present their stance in the next meeting.

The Council issued the directive during its 89th meeting held at PEMRA Headquarters. This meeting was of significant importance as the Council has been recently authorized by amendments to the PEMRA Act to address complaints regarding non-payment of salaries to electronic media journalists. The Council is also empowered to recommend penalties for non-compliance.

The meeting, chaired by Syed Muhammad Ali, addressed complaints filed against Geo, Talon, Bol News, and LTN Family concerning non-payment of salaries. While LTN Family was specifically given a 30-day deadline, other media houses were directed to present their stance in the next meeting.

Journalists Imtiaz Ali and Syed Arif Raza Zaidi were among those who filed complaints against the LTN Family.
