Pemra clarifies POWA press release
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has clarified a news item published in The News on 04-12-2013 titled “Pemra office-bearers to start pen-down strike.” Portion of clarification relevant to The News story is as follows:
It is clarified that not a single regular employee has been inducted in Pemra after imposition of ban on recruitment by the government. Similarly, the operational vehicles were procured as approved by the competent forum out of the budget allocated during the last financial year for replacement of old vehicles.
It is also clarified that there were total 32 officials in Pemra working on deputation. Out of them, 13 officers have been repatriated to their parent departments and the case of rest of them is sub-judice in the Islamabad High Court.
The above clarification has been issued by Pemra in response to Tuesday’s press release issued by Pemra Officers Welfare Organization (POWA).
