Pemra chief removal case: IHC issues notices to govt
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to the federal government and other parties in the case regarding the removal of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s (PEMRA) former chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Rasheed.
A single-member bench of the court comprising Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan heard the case. Advocate Wasim Sajjad presented before the court and argued that his client, Rasheed was removed illegally. Sajjad said that his client was once restored on his duty; however, the court orders were ignored. He pleaded the court to reject the government’s summary for the appointment of the new PEMRA chairman until the court’s decision is being made.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
