PEMRA checks illegal cable telecasting
QUETTA, April 09,2005 ,PEMRA Balochistan conducted inspections on Illegal Cable TV Operators who were telecasting/relaying cable with out license for several years.
On April 8 PEMRA Balochistan Enforcement Team headed by Abdul Jalal, Assistant General manger with the cooperation of local police conducted inspections in several districts of Balochistan and on various Cable TV Operators viz; M/s Super Shaheen Cable TV Network Usta Muhammad, M/s Sibi Cable TV Network Sibi and M/s Raja Ji Cable TV Network Sibi and fined them for Rupees Twenty and Thirty Thousand respectively.
It is added that the aforesaid Cable TV Networks were several times issued show cause notices through Press Advertisements and Official Letters to get license from PEMRA and legalize their business but all in vain and they repeatedly violated PEMRA Rules and Regulations.
It is further added that it is instruction of Chairman PEMRA that all illegal Cable TV Operators/Loop Line Holders who are relaying/telecasting Cable TV with out license, must get license from PEMRA and legalize their business; avoid relaying/telecasting illegal, vulgar, unethical, obscene and pornographic channels and relay all Pakistani National Channels in the first slots of their respective positions otherwise PEMRA would take action against violators of PEMRA Rules/Regulations under PEMRA Ordinance 2002, in which fine shall be imposed besides seizure o equipments/system.
