ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has told the National Assembly (NA) that the second part of the report of the Media Commission has been presented to the Supreme Court. He said Pemra has leveled no allegation against any TV channel, so the ministry did not need to take any action.

He said Pemra is not aware of any foreign funds for any TV channel to run programmes. He said certain TV channels were airing the Voice of America programmes illegally and they have been issued show cause notices. The notices were challenged in the Sindh High Court but now the programmes have been off-aired.

He said some FM radio stations have been found airing BBC programmes but they have been shut down as per the advice of Pemra. In reply to a question by Dr Nafeesa Shah, he said till June 1, 2013, the cost of government ads on electronic media stood at Rs159,603,942.
