PBC, CRI sign statement of collaboration

ISLAMABAD — To implement an MOU signed during the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to China in July this year, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) and China Radio International (CRI) signed a statement of collaboration here on Saturday for cooperation between the two organisations.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chairperson National Assembly Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, Farah Naz Isphani, and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Luo Zhaohui graced the occasion. Under the statement of collaboration, the two organisations agreed on exchange of staff in an effort to boost their relationship and enhance their professional capabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira said Pakistan-China relationship has a long history and his Pakistan Peoples Party, being the architect of these ties, considers this relationship as a great asset. He said relationship between two the countries is not confined to few fields only but Pakistan and China assisted each other on every hour of trail.

The Information Minister said the statement of collaboration being signed is the implementation of the MoU signed between two organisations during the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to China. He hoped that capabilities of the two organisations would enhance as a result of closer cooperation between them.

The collaboration between the two will strengthen people-to-people contact and relationship between Islamabad and Beijing, Qaira said.

He said time would soon be given on FM channels of Radio Pakistan to Radio China.

In his remarks, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Luo Zhaohui said signing of statement of collaboration between PBC and CRI is reflective of growing relationship between Pakistan and China. He termed the visit of President Zardari to China in July this year as highly successful. He said the signing of statement of collaboration between PBC and CRI is follow-up of that visit. He was of the view that it would enhance cooperation between the two organisations.

In his welcome address, Director General, PBC, Murtaza Solangi said close cooperation between PBC and CRI would go a long way in bringing the people of the two countries together.

The CRI Deputy Chief Editor hoped that the agreement would bring the professionals of the two countries together and their mutual interaction would provide them opportunity to enhance their professional capabilities.

He urged media of the two countries to play a role in further consolidating and strengthening close relationship between Pakistan and China. He said China has keen desire for enhancing collaboration between the media of two countries.
