Pakistanis search over 8m queries on Google daily

LAHORE: Pakistanis search more than eight million queries on a daily basis on Google search engine in which, 25 percent searches come from mobile phone users, Mac Warburton from Emerging Market Sales Google said.

Pakistan is the big market for Google Inc because of its growing online population, which is more than the overall population of Singapore and more than the internet users of Australia, Jana Levene, Emerging Market Development, Southeast Asia said.

Special high-tech sessions for information technology sector professionals especially marketeers and software developers was held on Wednesday.

The sessions organised by Google in cooperation with private sector organisations focused on marketing tools and re-organisation methods of Pakistani economy.

The experts from Google highlighted successful strategies of emerging markets other than Pakistan.

The first session focused on how Pakistan can harness Google web and marketing tools and search to develop markets and re-energise its economy. Niken Sasmaya, Online Partnership Group, Google Southeast Asia highlighted methods for growing business with Google Publisher Monetisation Solution.

Andy Warner, Access Manager conducted a session on ‘Affordable and Open Internet Access; followed by a local case study. Annad Tilak, regional manager of the Agency Relations and Sales Development also spoke on the occasion.

Pakistan advertisement industry was expanding speedily as its volumes reached to nearly $400 million to $500 million and Google was keen to explore its revenue in it. The number of internet users is on the rise in Pakistan, crossing 22 million mark as if now though they need engagement being a significant internet population that will come with different ways.
