Pakistani short, Nanu Aur Main to be screened at DFW South Asian Film Festival
Filmmaker Ali Sohail Jaura’s short film, Nanu Aur Main, which recently released on the streaming site, Iflix, has another feather in its cap. Produced under the banner of Family Films, the short film will be screened at the 5th annual Dallas/Fort Worth South Asian Film Festival (DFW SAFF).
The 5th edition of DFW SAFF will kick off from May 16 (tomorrow) and will continue till May 19, 2019. The 23-minute short, Nanu Aur Main, which features veteran actor Qavi Khan and Saboor Aly, will be screened on May 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the festival’s AMC Village on the Parkway 9 venue.
According to the festival’s Facebook handle, the four-day festival aims to showcase to the world, U.S. and Texas premieres of features, shorts and documentaries, all chosen to engage, educate and inspire audiences. The film festival will feature a wide range of films, exploring issues that affect South Asians living and working in America, along with promoting the perspectives and voices of the South Asian community through cinema.
In the past, Nanu Aur Main that revolves around the relationship of a grandfather (Qavi Khan) with his granddaughter (Saboor Aly), has had multiple screenings at different international film festivals including India’s Kolkata Short Film Festival 2018 and Tasveer South Asian Film Festival 2018.
The short film has been screened at Arthouse Asia 2019, Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF), Bangalore Short Film Festival 2018, Largo Film Awards 2018 in Switzerland and Vancouver South Asian Film Festival 2018 in North America among others.
