Pakistan, Turkiye Agree to Enhance Cooperation in Digital Transformation, E-Governance and Smart Technologies
Pakistan and Turkiye agreed to strengthen cooperation in digital transformation, e-governance, and smart technologies. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Turkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan Irfan Neziroglu in Islamabad on February 6.
Minister Shaza Fatima emphasized the Pakistan Software Export Board’s (PSEB) commitment to fostering international collaboration.
The minister stressed the growing importance of digital skills over traditional degrees and called for enhanced skill development programs. She emphasized potential business-to-business (B2B) cooperation between Pakistan’s National IT Board (NITB) and Turkiye’s TurkSat and also noted Turkiye’s e-governance progress and Pakistan’s Digital Nation Pakistan Bill.
Ambassador Neziroglu also underscored the importance of bilateral engagement in these sectors.
The meeting saw discussions on Turkiye’s digital transformation, which Ambassador Neziroglu said included 67 million e-state users and 8,000 digital services, technoparks, private IT firms, and developments in 5G as well as AI. He said that there should be dedicated focal persons from both sides to develop a roadmap for IT cooperation in 2025. The envoy supported direct ministry and industry engagement to solidify ties beyond official visits.
Both sides agreed to increase partnerships in IT, 5G, and AI, and in digital transformation strengthening Pakistan-Turkiye relations in the digital age.
