Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited (PTCL) privatisation framework completed

LAHORE- Chairman Privatisation Commission, Altaf Saleem has said that the framework for Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited’s privatisation has been completed.

He said that work on PTCL’s restructuring was under way and would be completed soon. “On my recent tours to London and Davos, 1 met the officials of PTCL’s advisers, Messrs Goldman, who are all set to initiate the denationalisation of the company. A Regulatory Authority for this purpose has already been set up,” Altaf maintained.

He said during his visits, he also met officials of World Bank and IMF who stood convinced that the government of Pakistan was serious in effectively pulling on the privatisation process.

“I have told them that from now onwards, quick decisions regarding investment policy and facilities for foreign investors will be taken and we will step up the process in a transparent manner and if there are any small subsidiaries running in losses attached to these concerns listed in our privatisation list, we will put them aside so that a better price can be fetched and no buyer can take benefit of any loophole,” he said.
