Pakistan Press Foundation protests detention of six Palestinian journalists in West Bank

Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF), an independent non-governmental institution committed to promoting and defending freedom of expression is concerned over detention and violations against six Palestinian journalists in the West Bank by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).

According to information received from Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA), PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali in a letter to President of State of Israel said, Quote “six journalists including Dubai TV correspondent Mohamed Assayed, Associated Press cameraman Mohamed Hassan and producer Rami Abdu, French Agency photographer Mousa Alshaer, Alquds Dot Com photographer Abd-Alrahman Younis, and an American photographer who is yet to be identified, were detained by IOF in different locations of West Bank while exercising their profession.

Earlier, Palestine Today TV correspondent Fida Nasser was detained by the IOF on March, 17, 2014, after she was attacked by Israeli settlers, who beat her and sprayed her with red wine. She was working on a report about the effects on Palestinian citizens by Jewish holidays in the city of Hebron”.

PPF condemns detention of Palestinian journalists & violations committed by the IOF against them as these endanger their lives and hamper their professional tasks and demands end to such violations of freedom of expression.
