Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) in a letter to Ali Khamenei, Prime minister of Iran expressed concern over the five years imprisonment charges to Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe for secret charges and her continued detention.

PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali in his letter urged the government of Iran to immediately release Zaghari-Ratcliffe and the remaining journalists, artists and human rights supporters who have been imprisoned for their peaceful actions.

According to Article 19, on September 6 Zaghari-Ratcliffe was punished to five years detention by Judge Salavati of the Iranian Revolutionary Court. It is predictable that she will spend her punishment in Evin prison. On April 3, Zaghari-Ratcliffe was returning to the UK from Iran (where she spent her holiday with her family) and she was detained at the Imam Khomeini Airport.

There have been various irregularities during the trial, that includes Zaghari-Ratcliffe has repeatedly been rejected to communicate with her lawyer, her family has not been informed about the actual reasons for which she has punished.

Zaghari-Ratcliffe worked with the Thomson Reuters Foundation as a project manager, which provides charitable projects all over the world except for Iran.

The allegations made against her have been associated with her work at Thomson Reuters Foundation, declaring that she is an agent for Thomson Reuters Foundation, which is supposed to cover their intelligence work (spying and intelligence operations for Western governments and part of an infiltration project) and for covering these activities they do charitable work. Thomson Reuters Foundation and Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s family and lawyer denied the allegations.
